Philana was born in California but grew up touring the country, calling both coasts and the Midwest home. In 2010 she graduated from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon where she focused on Ceramics. She graduated with a Masters of Fine Arts from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts in 2016 and has exhibited in Oregon, Texas, Massachusetts, and Michigan. Philana currently works in community arts programs at the Harvard Ed Portal and out of the Harvard Ceramics Program studios.
